P0003 – Varostop, N10

SKU: P0003

Varostop is a product for the prevention and treatment of varroosis in bees. It contains the active substance flumethrin, 3.6 mg/strip. Varostop General information: Varostop is a strip for use in bee colonies. Each strip contains 3.6 mg ±10% flumethrin. The product consists of light yellow-cream colored, odorless wooden strips. Each strip is wrapped in polyethylene foil. Each individual pack is in turn wrapped in double aluminum foil. Ten strips in their primary packaging are placed in a cardboard box. Pharmacological properties: Flumethrin is a type II synthetic pyrethroid with a contact, selective acaricidal action on the nervous system of the Varroa destructor mite. Flumethrin has a contact acaricidal action against the Varroa destructor mite, achieved by paralyzing the mite's nervous system. Flumethrin acts directly on the membrane of the excitable cells of the mite's nervous system. It causes changes in ion flow and, through repetitive activity, paralyzes the mite. As bees move on or past the strips, flumethrin adheres to their bodies. Through social contact it is transferred to other bees. In this way flumethrin is mechanically distributed among the individuals of the colony and exerts its acaricidal action on the Varroa destructor mite. Varostop has no adverse effect on the development of bee colonies, the egg-laying ability of the queen or the bee brood. Directions for use: Varostop is used in bee colonies for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of varroosis. Varostop strips are used in beehives. Varostop is used: – In early spring, when the brood does not yet occupy a large area in the colonies. – In summer, at the end of July – beginning of August, when the queens' egg laying is limited and the brood area is small, the rest of the area is filled with honey and most female mites are on the adult bees. – In autumn, in September–October, when the brood area progressively decreases. Varostop is used immediately after honey extraction. Open the packaging immediately before use. Place the strip between the frames in the center of the hive body, one strip for every two frames, and leave it for 35 days, but no longer than 6 weeks. Dosage: the dosage depends on the strength of the colony and the severity of the infestation: For diagnosis of varroosis, place white paper on the hive bottom for 24 hours. Personal protective measures: When working with the product, observe the general rules of personal hygiene and safety accepted for the use of veterinary medicinal products. Storage: store Varostop at 15–30 °C in the original packaging at 40–60% air humidity, protected from direct sunlight.
