Oxalic acid 20 g

Oxalic acid + glycerin

Preparation: Pour water into an enamel or stainless steel container (the water should contain as few calcium ions as possible…), add glycerin, stir and heat to 65 °C until the mixture becomes completely clear. Then add the oxalic acid and heat again to 65 °C; oxalic acid starts to dissolve above 50 °C and becomes completely clear when stirred.

Pour the prepared solution into a plastic container in which the required number of cloth strips have been laid in advance.

Leave for 24 hours, during which crystallization takes place, then lay the strips on the frames (some beekeepers also lay them on the bottom board) and monitor for 40 days.

Can be used while brood is present, at ambient temperatures up to +40 °C, in 10-frame Dadant colonies, using thick (colored) kitchen cloth 20 cm x 20 cm. For 5 bee colonies use: water – 154 ml, glycerin – 200 ml, oxalic acid – 185 g.

Note: Hazardous, keep away from children. Wear acid-resistant gloves, goggles and a respirator when working.
